At blackbox-av we’ve incorporated audio interpretation into practically anything you can imagine, so it was only a matter of time before we were asked to do it within a bench.

Llanyrafon Manor is a heritage site we know pretty well by now, last year we installed a number of Audio Sign Touch and Turns, as well as some standard interpretation signage. Leading on from the success of that project, we were asked to supply a talking bench for the Llanyrafon Manor grounds.

Solar Audio Bench for Llanyrafon Manor

We built a solar powered panel into a 6ft Teak bench designed for commercial use. Using 2 buttons users can sequentially listen to 5 tracks in either English or Welsh. All audio was recorded and supplied by us, along with the graphic design for the etched panel.

Continuing the theme of the other interpretation on the grounds, the audio bench shares information about local wildlife, namely that of the various birds who can often be seen on the site. Each message gives a short overview of a species then a clip of their bird call.

The Audio Bench nicely compliments the other interpretation we have happily supplied for Llanyrafon Manor, as the above image shows the bench is well placed to offer a nice view of the Manor, especially on a beautiful Welsh summers day!
