Newsletter – The 2014 Roundup

Dec 9, 2014 | News

Merry Christmas from blackbox-av! before we get lost in the Christmas spirit we thought we’d share some of our best bits from 2014, whilst wishing you a successful and Happy New Year. So take a look at a sample of the projects we’ve completed this year as well as some of the new products we’ve launched. It’s been a great year for blackbox-av and we hope it’s also been a great year for you.
Bespoke Projects
The Tank Museum, Mechanical Interactive
A replica Mark IV tank at the Tank Museum in Dorset has been brought to life thanks to a mechanical ignition game developed and installed by blackbox-av. Visitors now get the chance to try and ‘start’ the tank via a selection of levers. If successful the tank will begin to vibrate and roar into life.
Victorian Kitchen Range, Llanyrafon Manor
Rather than find a heavy and very expensive Victorian kitchen range for Llanyrafon Manor we were commissioned to develop and install a replica. Complete with informative signage and digital crackling fire the range has helped visitors envision a working Victorian kitchen.

The Keepers Experience
“Taking visitor interpretation to a new level, the interactive project is not only unique to Bridgend County Borough, but to the whole of Wales.” – Councillor Phil White, Bridgend Council

The Keepers is an interactive experience utilising a number of outdoor audio points built into 5 unique sculptures. Located in Bryngarw Country Park the Keepers represent different areas of the Park and contain within them the story of Bryngarw. However they will only share their story with those who possess a special talisman…

Porthcurno Telegraph Museum
Already an award winning attraction, the newly developed Porthcurno Telegraph museum has cemented its title as one of the must see sites in the UK. We were commissioned to provide a multitude of hardware solutions as part of this development, including a number of period telephones.
Scarlets Rugby, Heritage Trail
Phase 1 of a planned 2 stage development project at the Scarlets Llanelli stadium has seen the creation of a heritage trail which aims to ‘capture, preserve, celebrate and share over 140 years of history’. We’re set to begin phase to at some point in 2015! So look out for more on that next year.
