Oversized U-Turn Round – Münster Nabu Adventure Trail

Just 10km from the centre of Münster in Germany is the NABU Adventure Trail, offering a collection of interactive nature-focused walking paths around the Haus Heidhorn estate.

Here you’ll find long forest hikes as well as shorter sensory loops. On one such loop walkers are presented with a series of interactive stations that allow the young and old to experience nature in multiple ways. 

Impuls Design were commissioned to create a number of interactives along the Adventure Trail, one of which utilises our U-Turn Round, providing access to multiple audio tracks without need for mains power.

Visitors select a track with the dial and crank the handle to generate enough power to hear the sounds of various wildlife that can be found within the area.

This U-Turn features an entirely custom front plate to maximise accessibility, clear text in German is accompanied by both images and braille, allowing for visitors of all abilities to interact with the device.

This is a rather unique use of the Oversized U-Turn round which is primarily designed to be installed directly through a panel, however in this case the oversized front was utilised very cleverly for the additional space, allowing enough room to display the track list in both German, braille and colour images.
