U-Turn Round – New Forest National Park
Our U Turn Rounds are a much valued part of our mobile New Forest interpretation and blackbox-av’s customer service was great. We love the fact that no power supply is needed, as well as how straightforward it is to upload new sound recordings. We tend to use them with bird song/calls during the spring and summer as part of our ground nesting bird awareness campaign, and with deer/nocturnal wildlife calls during the autumn and winter.

Established in 2005, the New Forest National Park Authority (NPA) has a mission to conserve and enhance the natural beauty, wildlife and cultural heritage of the area while expanding public understanding and enjoyment of its special qualities. Jim Day of the New Forest National Park Authority shares one of the ways they help to educate the public, and how Blackbox-av’s products were utilised as a part of it.
We have a U-Turn Round which we’ve used for several years as part of a changing mobile exhibition. Originally purchased as part of a project led by our archaeology team to identify, record, conserve and share local New Forest World War II history, the U-Turn Round was loaded up with oral history recordings.
With the completion of that project the ranger team has redeployed the U Turn on our ranger interpretation vehicles. However we have two interpretation vehicles and had only one U Turn Round so were pleased to secure funding for a second.

The ability to easily upload content via the supplied USB programmer has allowed the original U-Turn supplied to New Forest to be re-purposed for its new role, with a second U-Turn being Commissioned for use on the additional mobile interpretation vehicle.
