22″ AV Point – Templeman Library
Our AV Point from Blackbox-av has really enhanced the interactive elements of our exhibitions, enabling us to share not just audio and video material, but custom slideshows and in-depth looks into the items on display in our gallery.

Established in 1965 and named after its’ first Vice-Chancellor, Geoffrey Templeman, the Templeman Library is the primary academic library located at the heart of the Canterbury campus of the University of Kent. The 22″ AV Point from Blackbox-av has enabled us to share digital images, audio and video content with visitors in our exhibition space. Previously we only had access to an overhead projector which limited what we could share to a single item. With the AV Point we are able to share up to 10 individual files in many different formats which the visitor can select at point of use.
So far, we’ve been able to share oral histories, “look inside” short films where we’ve captured the internal pages of bound items on display, born digital and digitized imagery, and video performances. In addition, the unit is fairly easy to move and we have plans to use it in different spaces around campus to share our collections even more widely.
The AV point was developed for precisely this purpose – it’s easy to update with new videos when needed via the included USB stick and with the free-standing option it can be quickly repositioned as required. Exactly as Templeman Library have been doing!
