March Newsletter – What We’ve Been Up To

Mar 13, 2018 | News

Welcome to our March newsletter. There are lots of projects that we’ve been working on over the past few weeks that we’re very excited to show you. But in the meantime, let’s have a look at some recent work we’ve been doing.

Garden Museum London

After undergoing a two year refurbishment, the Garden Museum in London opened its doors last year and features our interpretation products. The museum celebrates the best that British gardening has to offer and includes a brand new art gallery, two learning spaces and a makeover of the front gardens.

Working alongside GuM Studio (who oversaw the project’s design) and Elbow Productions (who oversaw the interactive content), we supplied the interactive elements to the exhibitions, which included touchscreens to house digitised content and play a series of interviews with gardeners, alongside PIR activated audio products to help bring the museum’s archives to life.

Smaller Projects

AutoPlay Headphones – Het Noordbrants Museum

With the release of the film Loving Vincent, an exhibition in the Het Noordbrabants Museum opened to offer a glimpse into how the film was made. Completely painted by hand, it’s the first fully painted animated feature film in the world and features an incredibly star studded cast of actors.

Installers Mansveld used our AutoPlay Single Cup Headphones within bespoke audio units, allowing visitors to listen to extracts from the artists who worked on the film, explaining the process of painting the frames by hand. The exhibit has been a big success since its opening whilst the film itself has been critically acclaimed.

40 of our Single Cup Headphones now have a home in the Roskilde Museum in Denmark as part of their new exhibit, Roskilde Magt on Mennesker. The exhibit documents the town’s history and how it has developed over the years, with audio visual interpretation playing a key part of the experience.

U-Turn Round – Chester Zoo

Our U-Turn Round has had a colourful makeover at Chester Zoo’s brand new play area that focuses on British Wildlife. The zoo is one of the UK’s biggest and most popular and also features as the subject of the popular Channel 4 TV series The Secret Life of the Zoo, which has just begun its 4th season.

The U-Turn has been populated with British animal sounds, transforming it into the ‘wildlife wheel’, which aims to educate visitors about the zoo’s conservation work to provide a safe habitat for British wildlife. The brand new play area has been a hit with visitors and has allowed them to learn more about our wildlife with a little help of the wildlife wheel!

TouchQuiz Software – TEAM Energy

TEAM Energy are one of the UK’s leading suppliers of Energy Management Solutions (with over 500 customers in the UK and worldwide). They recently exhibited at EMEX London in a bid to meet end users and help inform them on the types of products and services they offer.

At their exhibition stand, they had a touchscreen with our copy of TouchQuiz running; the team used our software to create an interactive quiz against the clock with the winner receiving a glass of champagne. We supplied a limited one week license so that it could be used for the duration of the exhibition, which provided a great interactive element for them

AutoPlay Single Cup Headphones – Dutch Openluchtmuseum

Over in The Netherlands, 21 of our AutoPlay Single Cup Headphones are now residing in the Dutch Openluchtmuseum. They have been installed as part of a new exhibition, The Canon of the Netherlands which explores an extensive collection of Dutch history, mixing digital media with authentic and historical objects.

With AV installers Rapenburg Plaza working on the project they ordered our AutoPlay Headphones to install at different points in the exhibition. Visitors are able to activate audio content by simply lifting the handsets from their magnetic holders. So far the exhibition has been a huge success with visitors.
