– Rhondda Lido Website
Originally built in 1927 Lido Ponty is now a grade II listed location which thanks to a recent £6.3m restoration project is open again for business and ready for the modern world. Originally designed (as was the fashion in 1927) to bring a Mediterranean feel to the South Wales Valleys, the Lido has been lovingly restored to its former glory.
With support of the Welsh Government, Heritage Lottery Fund and Cadw, the Lido now boasts three heated swimming pools, a waterside cafe and state of the art Visitor Centre. It’s for the fitout of the Visitor Centre that we were commissioned.
Through the use of our customisable off-the-shelf software packages we were able to provide a tailored interactive experience at the Lido Visitor Centre, supplying both a large 55″ Multi-touch table ‘Sleek’ and 22″ Freestanding Kiosk with which to display the various interactives.
The 22″ Free Standing kiosk presents our media browsing software Lightbox 2, allowing visitors to view various media content in a modern user friendly interface. This content can be updated and maintained by the client team as and when they wish.
The 55″ Multi-touch Table also presents Lightbox 2, along with a number of other interactives. These are ‘TouchQuiz’ which tests the visitors knowledge of the Lido. ‘TouchPuzzle’ which provides a fun multi-touch puzzle particularly popular with younger visitors and ‘eCard Creator’ which allows the creation and personalisation of an electronic postcard which can be emailed back to the visitor.
The ‘Editor’ package was also supplied, this allows the Lido team to update, alter and recreate any of the TouchQuiz, eCard Creator and TouchPuzzle apps ensuring the interactive offer is able to evolve alongside the Lido. We also utilised a 32″ screen with a Video Clip HD6 to present a button activated film showing the Lido regeneration as a time lapse.
A massive hit the Lido saw over 7,500 visitors in the first 12 days of opening and they have recently welcomed their 30,000th visitor to the centre in just seven weeks.
