“From our first enquiry, through the ordering process, to support after delivery, the Blackbox-av staff have been excellent. They have all worked hard to ensure that the Museum has a new valuable asset to enhance our other displays. “

– Kevin Bailey, Hythe Local History Museum

Based in Hythe’s Town Council House (formerly a Doctor’s home) the Hythe Local History Museum contains a collection of items and records from as far back as the Roman times. This includes maps, furniture, costumes, military equipment (linked to the Small Arms School of Musketry that was based in Hythe for over 100 years) commercial, civic and social objects.

Hythe Local History Museum, like many others, keeps much of their collection in cases with accompanying signage. Unlike other museums however, they’re willing to leave many out to handle. While a risk to preservation, it does allow for a literal hands on approach to learning. It’s not often you get to hold historic items from many years before you were born.

However, there’s only so much space available in the museum and 100’s of items they would like to showcase. With the addition of our 32″ Freestanding Kiosk running our very own museum software ‘Lightbox 3’ – in this instance utilising the ‘Collections’ and ‘Puzzle’ apps which allow the museum to create and maintain their own multi-media interactives, these items can now at last be presented to visitors, as Kevin Bailey explains;

“Hythe Local History Museum has long tried to find a way to display photographs and printed material for visitors to look at and enjoy. We have also struggled to show many objects that sit in storage for want of space in the museum itself. The touchscreen was the perfect solution. Now objects of all types, shape and size can be presented in a way that is easily accessible and informative to all.”

“From our first enquiry, through the ordering process, to support after delivery, the Blackbox-av staff have been excellent. They have all worked hard to ensure that the Museum has a new valuable asset to enhance our other displays. Early technical support ensured that we had pages prepared so we hit the ground running without having to learn how to set up or labour over presentation. Once delivered, the touchscreen was operational and available to everyone to use. The pages are sharp and clear and the information easily accessible. Easily used the touchscreen is enjoyed by young and old alike. Their positive comments endorse the decision we made to invest in the Blackbox-av touchscreen.

Thank you to the entire team at Blackbox-av!”
