The Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre is an independent charity, founded in 2001 by Roald Dahl’s widow, Liccy. As a charity, they aim to further the education of the public in the art of literature and creativity, across galleries, play areas and interactive features.

To commemorate its 20th anniversary, The Roald Dahl Museum commissioned artists Aprille McShane and Tony Broomhead to create a captivating interactive art installation for their courtyard. The result, “The Fantabulous Sound Machine,” masterfully utilises the function of an Oversized U-Turn to engage families and share information about the museum in a unique way.

This entirely handmade artwork is a vibrant explosion of colour, shape, texture, and sound. It was specifically designed to encourage participation, inviting visitors of all ages to interact and infuse their own imagination and knowledge of Roald Dahl’s beloved stories into the piece.
