AV Point and Lightbox 3 Touchscreen – USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park
We wanted to include both audio and video elements for kids, but I knew we needed something durable—something that could handle a lot of use and require very little maintenance. The setup was simple, and I couldn’t be happier with the result.

The USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park in Mobile, Alabama, is home to an impressive collection that includes the World War II battleship, a submarine and various other tanks and aircraft. The Memorial Park offers the chance for the crew members that served to tell share their stories with future generations. Brittany Roybal, Director of Museum Education and Collections, goes on to explain a recent project;

While the park features a dedicated children’s area, we identified the need for interactive, kid-friendly kiosks in the area. We wanted to include both audio and video elements for kids, but I knew we needed something durable—something that could handle a lot of use and require very little maintenance.

The 22″ AV Point, paired with our hearing aid compatible Heavy Duty Handsets allows for accessibility while also diminishing audio bleed. The All-In-One Touchscreen meanwhile runs Lightbox 3, our easy to use and easy to program software that allows kids to interact with Hotspot interactives and Quizzes produced by the team at the Memorial site. The Analytics app also helps the Park to adjust content accordingly by gauging how the current selection is being interacted with.

These kiosks now enhance the visitor experience by offering touch-screen applications and recorded interviews with crew members, allowing children to engage with history in an accessible and educational way. The setup was simple, and I couldn’t be happier with the result.
