SB Lite – 20 Forthlin Road
Our SB Lite solid state sound store is perfect for the role, it comes with the ability to play, pause and resume from a single button as standard and has been designed with heritage and museum applications in mind.
Leaving from Speke Hall in Liverpool on most days of the week is the combined tour of ‘Mendips’ and 20 Forthlin Road. Taking this tour is the only way to enjoy the experience of venturing inside the childhood homes of both John Lennon and Sir Paul McCartney.
The Beatles are the best known English band to have ever existed and have been described as the most commercially successful act in the history of popular music. The homes of both John Lennon and Sir Paul McCartney are now National Trust properties and people travel from around the world to experience an insight into the pairs humble beginnings. Stepping through the door of number 20 is like stumbling into the past and is a real must for any Beatles fan, the 1950’s house is practically a time capsule and allows you to really experience what life was like for Sir Paul McCartney growing up before he hit super stardom with the Beatles.
We were contacted by Simon Osborne, the manager for National Trust properties in Liverpool, who was in need of a sound store with which tour guides could play audio for visitors of 20 Forthlin Road, one key requirement of the player was the ability to play, pause and resume from a single button, allowing the tour guide to start the audio, pause it to answer any questions or add some information of their own, then resume again from the last position.
What was really exciting about this project was the fact Sir Paul McCartney himself provided the narration for the audio.
Our SB Lite solid state sound store is perfect for the role, it comes with the ability to play, pause and resume from a single button as standard and has been designed with heritage and museum applications in mind. Content is easy to update on the SB Lite and it can be bought as a looping player, 2 button or PIR activated player, or an (up to) 8 button player. It is also compact and easy to hide away.
Along with the SB Lite we provided Simon with a button, an atmospheric loudspeaker and pre-uploaded the content to the player before shipping. The end result was a sound store that worked exactly as planned, allowing tour guides to play audio narrated by McCartney to visitors as part of the unique tour.
If you plan on joining one such tour we recommend you book in advance, the National Trust tour is the only one of its kind and places go fast.
