Us and the National Trust

Jul 8, 2013 | News

The National Trust performs a vital role for heritage in the UK, in their own words…

“We’re a charity that works to preserve and protect historic places and spaces – for ever, for everyone”

National Trust Projects
Over the years we’ve been lucky enough to get involved in a number of National Trust projects, from designing/installing large exhibits to simply providing hardware from our user friendly product range to National Trust teams, giving them the ability to create their own. Last year we wrote a summary of the projects for 2012, and although it’s only July we thought it was time for the second edition.
Kingston Lacy House
This elegant country mansion is now home to 2 more Solar Audio Posts, having being an early adopter and purchasing their first around 2 years ago. Located in the beautiful Japanese Garden the original Solar Post plays informative audio with a calming background track of traditional Japanese music.

The first new Audio Post is located in the Kitchen Garden and teaches visitors about Henrietta Bankes, the lady of the house during the First World War. With the second yet to be installed.

Winchester City Mill
The working Winchester City Mill already enthralls visitors who can view the mill in action, grinding flour thanks to good old fashioned water power from the River Itchen.

To take the visitor experience even further and provide added interpretation the team at the Mill have used a wall mounted U-Turn Round and Audio Frame 15. The wind up self powered aspect of the U-Turn in particular fits well with the nature of the Mill.

Tyntesfield
Once home to England’s ‘Richest Commoner’ William Gibbs, Tyntesfield house is an amazing Grade 1 listed Victorian building. We brought one room to life with a bespoke 5 track soundscape, playing various tracks designed to recreate the atmosphere of the room in use.

The soundscape audio player outputs to 4 speakers each with different content, while playing a background track through all at the same time.

Princes of Gwynedd
As part of an exciting CADW-inspired and ERDF-funded heritage tourism project to tell the story of the Princes of Gwynedd, we have been commissioned by the National Trust to design and install an exhibition in the Beddgelert Tourist Centre.

One segment of a larger project, our part which includes touchscreen software & kiosk, an audio bench, signage and video players should be completed by August, look out for the write up in our installations portfolio.
