Audio Frame 15 with Cumbrian Records 2011

Sellafield is one of the most well known nuclear processing plants in the United Kingdom and is home to the Calder Hall Nuclear Power Station, the first power station in the world to deliver electricity from nuclear power in commercial quantities.

As part of a project with Cumbrian Records, blackbox-av produced an Audio Frame 15 Kiosk to provide an oral history to visitors of the Sellafield Stories exhibit, the site itself now being over 60 years old. The exhibit recounts Sellafield’s history, from its birth as a fuel factory for nuclear weapons after the Second World War, to its current status as the world’s largest concentration for nuclear expertise.

The Audio Frame 15 is an attractive and interesting way of communicating information to visitors about the Sellafield site. A selection of customizable buttons provides a diversity of content whilst the oral history is delivered through a handset which eliminates noise pollution for those nearby and reduces interference from other sound sources giving the user an intimate, high-quality audio experience about one of our most prestigious examples of modern history and technological development.
