Single Cup Headphone – Manchester Museum

Visitors use the table to trigger a selection of six films by placing a series of character cards onto a designated slot. Memories of Partition in Manchester Museum follows the partition of British India to India and Pakistan in 1947 through the eyes of the South Asian communities that currently reside in Manchester. An estimated 15 million people were displaced during the partition, even so it is a subject that has remained relatively unexplored by museums across the UK.

Blackbox-av Single Cup Headphone installed at Manchester Museum

As part of the exhibition, installers Stand + Stare purchased our Single Cup Armoured Cable Headphone to install onto an interactive table they had designed. Visitors use the table to trigger a selection of six films by placing a series of character cards onto a designated slot. Visitors are then able to use our headphone to listen to the films, which feature members of the South Asian community in Manchester speaking about their memories of The Partition and how their lives were affected as a result.

Thanks to the magnetic hanger the Headphones are secured neatly away when not in use which minimises the risk of trip hazards, while the inclusion of a 90° swivel knuckle adds a strong connection point between cable and installation site, ensuring the cable is less likely to fracture.

The exhibition has been a big talking point for the museum and will be running until the 26th February.
