June Newsletter – Your Monthly Catch-Up with blackbox-av

Jun 27, 2018 | News

Welcome to the June Newsletter. This month has been packed with plenty of exciting new projects so let’s jump straight in!
Bryn Pica Visitor Centre, Aberdare
We were delighted to design and install a new Visitor Centre at Bryn Pica Recycling Plant, which has been developed to inform school groups on the ‘ins and outs’ of recycling. Some highlights include an interactive quiz wall, transparent video screen, pledge wall and various software interactives. Each sharing the importance of recycling in exciting ways.
32″ Transparent Video Screen
The life cycle of a plastic bottle is displayed on this 32″ Transparent Video Screen. What appears at first to simply be a display of plastic bottles and recycled plastic, comes to life with an animated video upon the push of a button.
22″ Open Frame Video Screen
Another unique element is the Barcode Scanner. Visitors simply scan a number of replica ‘waste’ objects which in turn activate information on the 22″ Video Screen above. Providing an insight into what can and cannot be recycled.
22″ Touchscreen Unit with Software

Our 22″ Touchscreen was used in this unit along with our software to share information on the various interesting results of recycling. What becomes of your aluminium cans or used mattress? Find out here!

22″ Open Frame Video Screen
Another unique element is the Barcode Scanner. Visitors simply scan a number of replica ‘waste’ objects which in turn activate information on the 22″ Video Screen above. Providing an insight into what can and cannot be recycled.
VideoFarme 12 Kiosk, Edale Parish Church
In the small town of Edale thanks to the Heritage Lottery Fund the well known church, Edale Parish Church has undergone a renovation. To help educate visitors about the church as well as the renovation programme, our VideoFrame 12 Kiosk has been used to share various video clips on site.
U-Turn Round Projects

Eric Singleton Bird Sanctuary

The Eric Singleton Bird Sanctuary recently underwent a restoration programme. Our Australian distributor Armsign were approached to supply a U-Turn Round with a focus on the newly restored wetlands.
Armsign customised the unit making it much more colourful, allowing it to stand-out amongst the beautiful landscape. Visitors wind the U-Turn, activating tracks of different frog calls, as well as a listing of the frog’s location.
So far, the sanctuary has been recognised for a number of rewards. The U-Turn has been a huge success with school children who love playing with the unit.
Lismore Rainforest Botanic Gardens
The Lismore rain-forest officially opened in 2013 and houses a large collection of rain-forest plants. The gardens came to us to enhance the engagement with future visitors.

The U-Turn was supplied, featuring audio information about surrounding aboriginal plants and their characteristics. With customised earthy colours the U-Turn fits perfectly within the gardens.

Double Cup Headphones & SoundClip-8, Tildonk Experience Centre
With a long history including operating as the main base for General Von Beseler during WWI; the convent that resides in Tildonk is now used as a communal space featuring a restaurant, a series of care and welfare organisations and an experience centre focused on what life was like in World War I era Flemish Brabant.

Part of the experience includes an area where visitors can engage with audio clips from twelve different people on their experiences during World War I. For this our SoundClip-8 audio players were utilised, alongside our Double Cup Armoured Cable Headphones.
